Anna & Matt | Historic Charleston Engagement

A Winter Engagement in Historic Charleston

As I was sitting outside of a Starbucks waiting to meet Anna and Matt sipping my Chai Tea I was filled with anticipation. However, when they rounded the corner hand in hand, I knew that these two were going to be a couple that I enjoyed spending time with. Anna and Matt were planning their May wedding at Alhambra. I listened as they told me how they met and all of the details they had planned so far. When Anna excitedly asked me to be their wedding photographer, I couldn’t say YES fast enough.

So, when the time came to have their engagement session, I was over the moon excited to see them again!!! Now, an engagement shoot in December might raise a few concerns. One, it is Charleston but it could be cold!!!! Two, nothing is really blooming. Even the Palmetto Trees look a little wilted. But, when Anna suggested we add Hampton Park for one of the locations, I knew I would be able to find something soft and pretty for them. Hampton Park is special to Anna and Matt. Matt graduated from The Citadel and Hampton is practically in the Citadel’s backyard. Anna and Matt used to run on the running paths winding through Hampton! So it was the perfect first stop for their engagement session! There was Spanish moss covered walkways, beautiful flowers, and a couple in love… the best way to start an engagement session!!

Next, we drove to the historic district of Charleston. Being December, everything is decorated so beautiful for Christmas! Anna and Matt twirled in the streets, snuggled in front of churches and kissed on marble staircases! We talked about their wedding day and how beautiful it will be. I loved getting to know these two! Not only do we have a mutual love for Charleston, we also share the same love for Southern food!!! Hanging out with Anna and Matt felt like I was hanging out with old friends. I cannot wait to see them in May for their wedding!!! It is going to be so much fun!!!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their historic Charleston engagement session!
