Shelley & Josh | A Classic Charleston Engagement

Shelley & Josh | A Classic Charleston Engagement

Charleston Engagement Photography

From the first time that I talked to Shelley on the phone, I could hear that she had a joyful spirit about her!! So when her and Josh asked me to be their wedding photographer, I was ecstatic! I met Shelley and Josh at White Point Garden, and they came walking up to me arm in arm! Shelley looked like an angel in her blush dress, which happens to be my favorite color! And Josh was grinning from ear to ear. We embraced with hugs and started our walk to find some of Charleston’s most charming streets. This day also happened to be one of the most gorgeous days Charleston has had in weeks, and the whole city was out enjoying the beautiful weather while it lasted. Shelley and Josh were so laid back and patient as we worked around the crowded walkways.

Shelley and Josh excitedly told me about their love for Charleston and how Josh proposed just blocks away from the Battery on a street that was very sentimental to them. See, Limehouse St is not just the name of the street Josh proposed on, it also happens to be Josh’s last name!! But the amazingly sweet details didn’t stop there. Josh was wearing an extra special jacket!!! It belonged to his grandpa!! And if that wasn’t enough, when he held open the left side of his jacket, there was a tag. It said “Limehouse Ltd. Orangeburg SC”. Josh’s great uncle owned the coat shop in Orangeburg! The ties to South Carolina run deep with these two, which makes me SO happy because I am a South Carolinian through and through!

We traded in our shoes and cobblestones for bare feet and sand between the toes, as we ventured over to Isle of Palms. Shelley and Josh are getting married at Wild Dunes in May, so it only seemed fitting that we include the beach! And when I say, there was a Notebook, Allie and Noah moment, I mean it!! Seagulls flew overhead as Josh picked Shelley up for the most epic lift!!! And all I could think was “if you are a bird, I am a bird!”

In a few short months, I will be hugging these two again on their wedding day! And I am counting down the days! Shelley and Josh, thank you SO much for allowing me to be on this journey with you! Your joyous spirit and love for each other is what drives me to serve and love couples like you!!! I can not wait to see you in May!!

XO Natasha
