Mackenzie & David | Engaged

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ne of the first things that I will ask you when you inquire with me about your wedding, is “Can we meet up or talk on the phone?”! Why? Because I want to get to know you and give you the opportunity to get to know me. We are going to spend a lot of time together and I want you to make sure that I am the perfect fit for your photography needs. When Mackenzie and I hopped on the phone to chat about what her and David’s wedding experience with me would look like, I quickly learned about their sweet pups, Rory! Yep, Rory like the lead character from Gilmore Girls, which happens to be one of my favorite shows of all time. Mackenzie and I laughed about my naivety in thinking that when I moved to Worceter MA, I was expecting to step out of the moving truck and see Luke’s Diner! When we hung up the phone, I prayed that Mackenzie and David would choose me as their photographer! I knew that I would just love spending time with them.

Mackenzie and David are planning their wedding from Michigan, so their engagement session was the first time we were going to meet in person. Mackenzie was really not wanting to choose between three of her favorite locations, so we extended their session and explored all three! Now, if you are a groom, taking engagement pictures and driving between locations for 4 hours might seem like a lot! But David showed up ready to show me his best Blue Steel and y’all he gets a gold medal for his positive energy! And you guessed it, we had a special third wheel with us, Rory!

We started at the gorgeous Legare Waring house, which coincidentally is where Michael and I had our engagement portraits. Watching Mackenzie and David snuggle under the oaks, brought back so many memories from 9 years ago for me. And I am so glad I got to be the one helping them make those same memories. We then strolled the streets of historic Charleston, where Rory was stealing the show on more than one occasion. But what stole the show for me, was Mackenzie’s infectious smile and laugh.

Mackenzie and David have been together since they were teenagers. They met as lifeguards one summer and have been through college and graduate school together. When it was time to pop the question, Mackenzie had a few rings that she loved saved on Pinterest. They took all of the elements from the rings that she loved and designed and created her engagement ring! And it is gorgeous y’all!

After we wrapped up 4 hours of pictures, these two joined me for BBQ on Sullivan’s Island. I mean, they just spent 4 hours with me, I figured they would have been ready to head home. But nope, we sat on the porch with Rory and chatted about their dream wedding! And I can not wait to be there with them at Lowndes Grove next May! I am so excited for the year to come, and getting to love and serve these two! Mackenzie and David, I don’t know what I did to deserve a couple like y’all, but I feel honored and blessed to be on this walk with you both!
