Jen & Jason | An Island House Wedding

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen I first met Jen and Jason, we were at their engagement session. We walked around Hampton park, and drove over to the beach, and I got to know their story more. I found out that when Jason proposed, these two were in a long distance relationship. And I thought, “Boy that must have been hard”. But how strong these two must have been to love and nurture their relationship even with miles in between them. And if they could do that, then they could be strong through life together.

When I walked into the Island House, I met so many amazing women who were literally bursting with joy to surround Jen and Jason on their wedding day. Jen was all smiles as the final touches of hair and makeup were wrapping up. As we walked to a secluded location for Jen and Jason to read letters they had wrote to each other, I got a glimpse of Jason for the first time. He greeted me with the biggest hug. Jen and Jason didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, so each hid behind a pillar and quietly read each other’s letters. I watched as they both took deep breaths, fighting back tears. And when they finished reading, Jen reached her hand out to squeeze Jason’s.

Jen and Jason’s ceremony was filled with joy, tears and laughter. Thanks to the groomsmen for providing a little comical relief with their rendition of “Who has the ring!” During the reception, Jason’s dad gave a touching toast. He reminded Jen and Jason that, much like the bubbles that they would walk through at the end of the night, that they were forming their own bubble. And that each other would become number one in their lives. To put each other first, support one another and love one another. And I couldn’t say it better myself. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Spencer!!! And whenever you need to hear it, remember your brother and Stuart Smiley said it best! “I’m Good Enough, I am smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!” I feel so honored to have been apart of your day!
