Makenzi & David | Married

A Romantic Mountain Wedding | Montreat & Asheville NC

It’s not often that I am speechless! But Makenzi and David’s Montreat wedding day left me speechless. Which if you have had an engagement session with me, you know that is rare! From their friends, to their family, to the first look and the ceremony. Everything that happened throughout the day blew me away. I arrived in Montreat on the perfect Fall day. The leaves had just hit peak and were shades of orange and red. The air was crisp but not too cold. I drove through a stone archway on a narrow road to find the most picturesque town.

As I pulled up to the chapel, I immediately knew why Makenzi and David chose this location. It was timeless and classic, just like the two of them. Slowly, family and friends started arriving to get ready at the chapel that Billy Graham and his wife, Ruth, married at many years ago. I watched as Makenzi’s friends circled around her to pray over her and David, tears in my eyes. The amount of love that was poured into this day reaffirmed to me that Makenzi and David are two very special people.

As I was getting ready for Makenzi’s first look with David, I was met by her dad in the hallway. I asked if he would like to see his girl first, and he excitedly asked if that was possible. Of course!! After all, he loved her first. And this is one of those moments you can not miss. I set him up in the hallway outside of the chapel, and as Makenzi approached her dad, I don’t think there was a dry eye in that hallway.

Now it was David’s turn. He was patiently waiting on the sidewalk as I helped Makenzi down the stairs. He was shifting his feet back and forth, and it was now his time. Makenzi called his name, and y’all, I think I need to invest in waterproof mascara. I watched as they embraced, kissed and Makenzi pulling her handkerchief from her dress pocket (YES! you read that right! Her dress had pockets! So amazing).

Their ceremony was timeless! Makenzi and her dad walked down the aisle behind a bagpiper. She joined David on the stage in front of a packed church. I watched as the entire congregation joined in hymns and took communion. So much of the day was giving back to Him and it reminds you what weddings should really be about. Makenzi and David, thank you for asking me to come up to Montreat to witness such an incredible day. Y’all were amazing, your family was so inviting and your friends were a blast! I don’t think Asheville has ever seen such a floor shaking reception! I love you both! Congratulations Mr and Mrs Cobb!
