Alex and Willis | Married

Creek Club at I’On | Alex and Willis

I remember meeting Alex and Willis downtown for their engagement session this summer and feeling like their wedding day was so far away. Well y’all, the months went by fast! And their wedding day was finally here. As I pulled up to Alex’s beach house rental, I saw her on the steps outside. I hopped out of my car and yelled “Happy Wedding Day!!!” and she lit up and gave me the biggest hug!! As I walked into the house, I was greeted by her sweet friends, mom and MiMi! They all welcomed me with open arms! I listened as Alex joked with her friends, reminisced on childhood and college days, and then get all giddy about seeing Alex’s groom. I watched as Alex’s lifelong friend, Madison, tearfully took time to give her best friend some of the most meaningful gifts.. including her something blue.

As we arrived at the venue, it was time for Alex’s dad to finally see her! We set dad up in the garden and got in place! Alex took a deep breath and finally said, “Dad you can turn around”. Alex’s sweet dad with tears running down his cheek says “Can I hug her?” Of course you can dad!!! Alex pulled me to the side later to say it was the first time she has ever seen her dad cry. That is a moment you can not miss!

But the crying was not finished. It was time for the ceremony to start. As Alex walked down the steps towards her groom, I looked over at Willis. I watched as tears filled his eyes and Alex the same. These two tearfully read their vows to each other in front of their closest friends and family. They promised to love, respect and continue to live life to the fullest together. After their ceremony, it was time to dance! And y’all the dance floor stayed packed the entire night! From everyone singing Black and Yellow in reference to the Steelers… To the mustache party that happened in honor of Willis’ and his firefighter friends mustaches that they grow every year. It was a reception to remember!

Alex and Willis, thank you for allowing me to be part of your amazing day! I loved every minute with you, your family and friends. May you always be a realist and a dreamer!

“There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true. See, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists? Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground”-Modern Family
