[dropcap]D[/dropcap]o you know that feeling you get that you know you are going to love someone after chatting with them on the phone? That was exactly how I felt after I talked to Jasmin and Bennett a few months ago about their wedding! I hung up and knew I would have the best time with them if they chose me as their wedding photographer. And lucky me, they did!!!

When I met them both on Meeting St on Saturday, I hugged them! I have been following their Instagram and felt like I already knew them from the phone call and their social media. Which is one of the positives of social media! Downtown Charleston was bustling even more than usual on Saturday! We walked by multiple happy brides and grooms, proms kids and other sweet couples taking their own engagement portraits. As we walked, I loved getting to know their story even more.

Jasmin is actually from Germany!!! So cool, right?! Well, even more ironically, my sister and her family have spent 9 years out of the last 12 in Germany! So I was so excited that I could impress, or not, Jasmin with my 3 lines of German that I know!

1. Sprecken see Deutsch! Which means, “Do you speak German”

2. Hallo! Which means, “Hello” That was a tough one!

3. Nein danke! Which means, “No thank you”

Ok, ok! I am not really great at German! But I was so excited to hear about how she ended up in Charleston. Jasmin came to the U.S. for work and Bennett, who is originally from New Jersey, was in Charleston as he served in the Navy! These two met at a pool party! And the rest is history! 2 years later, on their anniversary, they were supposed to be going out to a fancy dinner. Bennett suggested that they take their Australian Shepherds for a walk first. He was planning to propose later on that night but couldn’t wait anymore. Bennett proposed to Jasmin on their walk, with their adorable puppies by their side.

Jasmin and Bennett are not having one, but TWO weddings! They will fly to Germany this summer for their first wedding! And then in September they will join me, their family and their friends at The Lake House at Bulow on Johns Island for their American wedding. Jasmin and Bennett live for adventure, whether it’s hiking or doing Rugged Maniac, but I do think this next adventure will be the best one yet!! Jasmin and Bennett I am so excited to meet your friends and family in September! And I can not wait to capture your big day!

 

I love that Jasmin and Bennett had two outfits with them! It allows for so much variety in your portraits! And Jasmin’s second dress was just as gorgeous as her first! And it’s from one of my favorite stores! Lulus!
