Brenna & Trey | Harborside East Wedding
When I think about Brenna and Trey’s wedding day, a few important things stand out to me! First, Brenna and Trey’s pure and utter love for each other! Second, the amount of tradition and emotion that was intertwined throughout the day. And lastly, Brenna and Trey have some amazing dance moves! When I talked to Brenna a few days before their big day the forecast was not looking like what anyone would hope for. Freezing cold rain and gale force winds were making us come up with back up plans for our back up plans. Thankfully, Brenna and Trey were so understanding and even offered the use of Brenna’s parent’s home for most of the portraits.
Honestly, I think this back up plan turned out to be even better than the original plan. Why? Because every time Brenna walks through her parent’s front door, she’s going to remember her dad’s face as he saw his little girl for the first time in her wedding gown. When you see the big windows in the bedroom, I hope you will remember when your mom gave you the gift of your hanky made from your Christening bonnet. When you gather on the back porch for football games, everyone will reminisce about Brenna and Trey’s emotional first look. Where Trey had all of us in tears as he read every significant date to Brenna that had lead them to this point. From sitting behind Brenna in high school calculus class, to their first date at Carrabba’s, to boiled peanuts for the first time (or as we call it in the south “bowllled peanuts”), to the time that he asked Brenna to marry him at the Clemson football game.
As we took our place at the ceremony, I watched as Trey held back the tears with each passing bridesmaid. And as Brenna and her dad started their walk down the aisle, I watched as Trey’s dad gripped his shoulder, tears streaming down Trey’s cheeks. I think it safe to say, that the love that these two have for each other runs very deep. Brenna’s dad shakes Trey’s hand, hands over his daughter’s hand, and takes his place as the officiant of their wedding. Yes, Brenna’s dad married these two. Like I said before, tradition and emotion. Trey and Brenna invited their parents to add notes to a box that they had at their alter. This box has notes from each parent’s and Brenna and Trey’s personal vows that they read to each other during their first look. They will have these notes as a foundation going forward for their marriage.
I think the biggest shock of the night came for me when Brenna and Trey joined on the dance floor for their first dance. “At Last” played, and these two twirled and locked eyes the entire time… then they broke out into a dance that I had no idea either of them had in them. Spanish tunes came over the speakers and Brenna and Trey graced the crowd with their very uniquely them first dance. The dance floor did not stop!! Their guests joined them and the floor was alive the entire night. With everyone from their bridal party, to grandma and grandpa joining in.
Brenna and Trey, I have laughed, cried and smiled ear to ear while reliving your day. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and allowing me to tell this story. And oh what a story it is to tell! Promise me that you will show your future kids the same exact spot that we took portraits on your parent’s porch one day. And always remember each special touch that made your wedding day so heartfelt and joyful!
