Audrey & Grant | An Intimate Charleston Summer Wedding

 

[dropcap]2[/dropcap]020 has sure been a year that has tested patience, faith and will for a lot of people. But I can say without a doubt, Audrey and Grant has faced 2020, and it’s ups and downs with grace and gratitude! 3 months before their big day was set to happen, the world was facing a pandemic. Weddings were being postponed and cancelled. And a lot of couples had to make heartbreaking decisions on what to do next. Every time I reached out to Audrey to check on her and Grant, she was optimistic and hopeful! Audrey and Grant knew that their day was in God’s hands and they were ready to take it on however He saw fit!

Audrey and Grant met in church summer camp. It was not until a few years later that these two started dating. Grant, a year ahead of Audrey in school, left their home state of Kansas to attend The Citadel in Charleston! And with college graduation around the corner, he planned the sweetest proposal for Audrey a year and a half ago. When I was finally able to meet these two last summer for their engagement session, I knew that they had something so special! A quiet gracefulness and love for one another. They just fit as a couple! And it’s easy to see when you first meet them!

Audrey and Grant planned a ceremony at Summerall Chapel on Citadel’s campus for right after graduation for Grant. Graduation however was a little different because of the events going on in the world. However, Audrey reached out and asked if they could go forward with their original wedding day, and have an intimate wedding at the chapel of their dreams with as many of their closest family and friends in attendance that could make it! I can not tell you how excited I was to help them keep as much of their original wedding day as planned! It was the perfect start back to weddings for me!

When I walked into Audrey’s getting ready suite, and met both of their amazing moms and family, it just felt like it was the day they were supposed to have all along. From the heirloom details, to the emotional gifts, their wedding day was going to be one to remember. It never escapes me that I have the honor to be a part of so many defining moments in couple’s lives.

Watching with tears in my eyes as Audrey and Grant prayed over each other before heading to the chapel! Grinning from ear to ear seeing the double doors of the chapel swing open and Audrey, stunning in her gown, and her dad take their walk towards her husband. Hanging on to every single promise these two made to each other in their vows! This day, no matter what hurdles the universe threw at it, was one of the best wedding days I have ever been a part of! The day was about Audrey and Grant vowing to honor and love one another for the rest of their lives!

Audrey and Grant, I can not say a thank you to you both without tears in my eyes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of this journey with y’all! Your wedding day was one for the history books Mr & Mrs Schoonover. And the best part… we get to do it all over again in August for your reception!!! TEARS!! I love you both! I love your family and friends! And I am here cheering you on as Mr & Mrs!
