Tik Tok, Reels, Oh My!! Why You Should Be Using Video Content for Your Business Marketing

Natasha Coyle shares how to decide if you should be using video content for your small biz

The landscape of social media has changed so much in the last 2 years – and for many business owners, it was a huge shock. Experts have been telling us for years that video is the future of marketing, but I really don’t think any of us felt prepared. Despite that, I truly believe that all business owners should be incorporating video content into their business marketing. There’s so many ways to incorporate video into your business, so today I want to focus on two common short form content options: Tik Tok and Instagram Reels.

Should you be using Instagram Reels and Tik Tok?

Honestly? I don’t think that these formats are for everyone. But, at the same time, I think with a strategy and plan, everyone can benefit from them. Before we go any further on this topic, I want to be clear: if they aren’t for you, that’s 100% okay! I want to break down how to choose whether or not to use Instagram Reels and Tik Tok for your business. It’s all about what’s best for you!

How do you decide?

First, I think you should look at your social media accounts and determine if growing your social media or your online presence will actually make an impact on your business. Think about if people engage with your accounts now, if they join your email lists or purchase products or sessions from you. Once you know the answer to that, you need to determine your capacity to post content. You need to be sure that you can be consistent. Consistent doesn’t have to mean 5 days a week! Just make sure it’s something you can maintain.

After you’ve figured those two things out, you need to decide if you really enjoy making video content. If you don’t, that will come out in your videos (trust me!) and the ROI from video content won’t be worth it. Creating this content will probably feel like a chore – and we don’t need more of those in our businesses. Finally, and perhaps the most important question to think about is whether or not your ideal clients would find you on Instagram or Tik Tok. If so, then it’s definitely worth considering these platforms. If not, then you have your answer about whether or not this is worth your time.

Looking over the answers to your questions, determine if you said “yes” to most of them! If you did, then Reels and Tik Toks are probably a worthwhile use of your time to grow your social media accounts and connect with new customers. Next week, we’ll be chatting more about how to strategically use these platforms in your business!
