4 Tips for Strategically Using Reels and or Tik Toks for your Photography Business

4 tips for strategically using Reels or Tik Tok for your business shared by Natasha Coyle

Last week, we discussed whether or not using Instagram Reels and Tik Toks would be beneficial for your business. Everyone’s business and ideal clients are different – so the answer may have surprised you! But, marketing overall is moving in the direction of more video content. If that idea freaks you out, I get it. Trust me: I learned to use Tik Tok at 37. It’s entirely possible to learn how to use these platforms and with a little strategy, they can go a long way in helping you grow your business and brand online. Today, I want to share 4 tips to strategically use Reels and Tik Toks in your photography business. And, if you’re not a photographer – read through anyway! These tips really could work for anyone!

#1. Use Reels and Tik Toks to share behind the scenes of what you do!

People LOVE the process. They enjoy seeing what it’s really like to work with someone and then see the final product. Behind the scenes videos are also helpful because they show what you’re really like on a shoot or a wedding day. As a wedding photographer, if I can show how fun I am to work with BTS footage, clients get to know me even better! That is an amazing tool to have in our marketing.

Being able to bring clients BTS footage not only helps them decide if they’re a good fit, but it really helps potential clients feel like they have a good understanding of you and your business. This helps their research process and makes their decisions even easier!

#2. Use Reels and Tik Toks to share what you offer.

Sharing what you offer is a great way to use Reels and Tik Toks. Think about products that your customers might not know about, like albums or heirloom products. Consider doing an unboxing video or behind the scenes of the prep. These are great ways to show off what you do and what makes you unique for your potential customers!

#3. Use Reels and Tik Toks to connect with your audience.

So often I hear people talk about how your video content needs to fully represent your brand – and that’s true.. mostly. But, what’s missing in that statement is that we also have to connect with people. Think about why we show our faces often on Instagram or share about ourselves… we have to (and want to) connect with our audience. They get to know us as human beings and connect with us on a more personal level. So consider using Reels and Tik Toks to create those connection points! Building connection points is important both for potential clients but also with your community and other vendors. All of these people help to grow your business!

#4. Use Reels and Tik Toks to repurpose your best content!

I’m a firm believer in working smarter, not harder. If you’ve spent years writing blogs, posts, and emails that people have loved… reuse them as video content. You’re making your own life easier by using content you’ve already completed for new videos. Plus, the original content did well, so you know it’s going to help your clients even more in this new format. Definitely a win-win, if you ask me!

Now that you’ve got four new ways to use Reels and Tik Toks strategically in your business, I hope you see how easy it can be to jump into using these platforms!
